Titanic (1997)
Titanic (1997)
Believe it or not I liked this film more than L.A. Confidential (1997) (I really did no matter what you say). It shares the distinction of receiving the most Academy Award nominations (14) with All About Eve (1950) (and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)) AND winning the most (11) with Ben Hur (1958). It’s also by far the highest grossing film of all time (may I too one day make a film that has been panned this much). James Cameron’s only three Oscars (Director Editing Producer – Best Picture) and nominations so far. Kate Winslet & Gloria Stuart received Acting nominations. #25 on AFI’s Most Heart-Pounding Movies list. #37 on AFI’s 100 Greatest Love Stories list. “My Heart Will Go On” is #14 on AFI’s 100 Top Movie Songs of All Time. Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack Dawson yells “I’m king of the world!” (#100 on AFI’s 100 Greatest Movie Quotes list) while “flying” on the bow of the great ship. The line was later repeated by Cameron at the Academy Awards ceremony.
