Georgy Girl (1966)

"Hey there, Georgy Girl" is a song I had a hard time getting out of my head after I watched this one on TCM in November, 2004. One of those kind of tunes, which was rightfully Oscar nominated. The film isn’t bad either. It stars an unrecognizable Lynn Redgrave in the title role, a frumpy young woman who lives with a gorgeous, self-centered roommate (played excellently by Charlotte Rampling) and her husband (Alan Bates), while being pursued by an older man (James Mason) for his mistress. Hey, it's the 60's and everyone is sex obsessed and unfaithful. Funny, and sad at the same time. Redgrave & Mason (Supporting) received Oscar nominations as did the film’s B&W Cinematography.
