An entertaining action adventure film World War II drama from director Raoul Walsh starring Errol Flynn (who else?) as the leader of a platoon who parachutes behind enemy lines to achieve a military objective. They then find themselves trapped and unable to be recovered for various reasons. So officer Flynn must find some high ground where his men can hideout until reinforcements can be arranged. Several familiar faces in this one like George Tobias Henry Hull William Prince James Brown (not the football player) Warner Anderson even Hugh Beaumont though uncredited. Alvah Bessie’s Original Story was Oscar nominated (his only Academy recognition) Ranald MacDougall (Mildred Pierce (1945)) & Lester Cole wrote the screenplay. George Amy’s (Air Force (1943)) Editing and Franz Waxman’s Score were also nominated.
