An outstanding film about leadership with Clark Gable as the commander of a bomber crew which must fly perilous missions over Germany in World War II. The film is not unlike the earlier WW I film called The Dawn Patrol (1938) starring Errol Flynn. The outstanding cast includes Walter Pidgeon Van Johnson Brian Donlevy Charles Bickford John Hodiak Edward Arnold and Ray Collins. Directed by Sam Wood who was nominated for four Best Director Oscars in his career for Goodbye Mr. Chips (1939) Kitty Foyle (1940) Kings Row (1942) and For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943). The screenplay written by George Froeschel (Mrs. Miniver (1942)) and William Laidlaw was based a play by William Wister Haines.
