Mark of Zorro The (1940)

Great film to watch with your kids or grandkids. Features Tyrone Power in the title role the son of the former "mayor" of a small town who goes away to military school. When he returns as its best student he finds that another ruthless man has assumed his father’s position backed by the sword of Basil Rathbone’s character who is having an affair with the man’s wife (Gale Sondergaard). In part because of this man’s unjust rule but also because of his love for the man’s beautiful niece (Linda Darnell) he dons a mask to right the wrongs. A "Friar Tuck" like character (Eugene Pallette) who initially taught him how to use a sword assists him. To throw off suspicion from himself as the masked savior he pretends to be effeminate a man interested in fashions and fragrances who faints at the sign of danger. Tyrone Power’s title character is AFI’s #45 hero. Added to the National Film Registry in 2009.
