A love story with Ingrid Bergman which is worth seeing even though Leslie Howard is in it;-) Also features Cecil Kellaway. Bergman a student of Kellaway’s is also the piano teacher for Howard’s daughter (Ann Todd). He becomes infatuated with her such that he invites her to go on tour with him (he’s a concert violinist). Of course they have an affair. He becomes estranged from his wife but the daughter gets to come visit them. However he will naturally have to atone for his sins. Academy Award nominations for Gregg Toland’s (Wuthering Heights (1939)) B&W Cinematography and the film’s Score. Bergman’s American feature film debut after she was signed by David O. Selznick who had seen her in the 1936 Swedish version.
